EQUESTRIAN

YEAR 8

This course is designed to provide students with the basic key knowledge and understanding of what is involved in owning a horse, so that they can up hold their duty of care as an owner of a horse in a real life setting if they decided to take on that responsibility. Furthermore, it is develop self-analytical riding skills so that students, regardless of their riding level, can continue to develop their riding skills beyond this course competently. Students who wish to obtain their own horse, or are looking towards VET Equine studies for a career in the Equine Industry will highly benefit from this course.

It is a recommendation for students who have not taken part in the Grade 5 & 6 Equestrian classes to have completed both Semester 1 and 2 of Year 7 Equestrian, unless an exemption is granted for previous learning. For students who have taken part in the Grade 5 & 6 Equestrian classes it is recommended that students to have completed semester 2 in Year 7 to get the most out of this course.

Equestrian can be selected for either Semester One or Semester Two or for the entire year.  If selected for one semester, a student will not complete one of the other four specialist subjects and if selected for the entire year, two specialist subjects.
