GERMAN
Year 8

Students deepen their knowledge and understanding of the German language and cultures of the German-speaking countries. Topics include leisure, holidays, food and eating habits, weather, telling the time and Christmas in German-speaking countries. They also share and compare responses to characters, events and ideas in imaginative texts, making connections with own experience and feelings. They develop and apply knowledge of German grammatical elements such as verb tenses, modal verbs and cases, combining them with an increasing range of nouns, adjectives and adverbs to construct sentences. Through learning German, students understand that God created human beings to understand language and communicate through it.
