PHYSICAL EDUCATION: HEALTH FOUNDATIONS
YEAR 10

This study allows students to learn about nutrition, including Australian dietary guidelines, influences that impact our dietary decisions and wastes associated with food production and consumption. Students learn about mental health and wellness, the different issues associated, how to develop positive mental health habits. They learn about the support services available. Students explore a variety of lifelong physical activities such as; Zumba, Circuit Training, Pilates, flexibility training, INSANITY and fitness testing. The importance of regular exercise is emphasised to provide students with lifelong habits as per Proverbs “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

This subject has theory and practical classes. During practical lessons students are required to wear the full College sports uniform.

This course is offered in both semester 1 and semester 2 and may only be selected once.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION: SPORTS SCIENCE
YEAR 10

This study allows students to gain an understanding of the fundamental of fitness program design and training techniques. They will learn about fitness component, body systems and energy systems required to perform complex movement. They will investigate a variety of Biomechanical Principles and apply these to analyse their and others performance in a skill of their choice. It is right to train our students on the importance of regular exercise to provide them with lifelong habits. As stated in Proverbs “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.”

 

Students are required to wear the full College sports uniform.
