YEAR 9
The studies of the Industrial Revolution and World War One will broaden students historical understanding of how these significant periods changed societies, the short and long term effects that resulted from them and the implications on Australia. As Christians, we are called to respond to changes in society, to take action, particularly when it involves injustice of people groups.
HISTORY - THE INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION
YEAR 9
This unit explores the changes that arose in Britain and influencing a change from agriculture to urban industrialization globally. Students explore the changing features of the movements of people from 1750 to 1918 and new ideas and technological developments that contributed to change in this period.
HISTORY - WORLD WAR 1
YEAR 9
This unit explores the main causes the led to the outbreak of World War I. Students examine the alliances that formed, the tensions that arose and an in-depth study of of Gallipoli will be explored. The role of Australia will be explored and the role of women during World War I.
GEOGRAPHYÂ
YEAR 9
There are two units of study in the Year 9 curriculum for Geography: ‘Biomes and food security’ and ‘Geographies of interconnections’.
Biomes and Food Security focuses on investigating the role of the environment and its role in food production. This unit examines the biomes of the world, how they are altered through human interactions and their significance as food sources. Geographies of Interconnections focuses on investigating how people, through their choices and actions, are connected to places throughout the world in a wide variety of ways. Through the study of these two unit, students will develop an understanding of their individual roles as caretakers of God's earth.
