TECHNOLOGY FACULTY

Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, in word of deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES

COMPUTING: Data Analysis and Visualisation
YEAR 10

This course will appeal to students who are interested in designing and developing software, with a particular focus on data analysis and visualisation in the Python programming language. Students will start off learning the basics of coding in python which will include the ability to use various kinds of lists, loops, functions and classes. The course will also access some of the many Python libraries that are currenting leading the professional field of Data Analysis, including Pandas and Matplotlib.

COMPUTING: APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT
YEAR 10

This course focuses on object-oriented programming and mobile application development. Students learn the core fundamentals of class-based object-oriented programming using an industry level programming language, which they then apply to develop mobile applications that are deployed and tested on their own Android and/or IOS devices. This course aims to prepare students for careers in fields such as software engineering, computer science, and mobile application development, using current and industry recognised technologies.

DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY

FOOD AND TECHNOLOGY: CREATE A FOOD
YEAR 10

This course will most likely appeal to students who are interested in designing contemporary food products in state-of-the-art facilities.  During this course, students will design, plan and create meals, desserts, snacks and celebration foods using a range of preparation, cooking and presentation methods.  Discovering the function of different foods and how to modify recipes to create individual food products is a key component of this course. Students will develop their cooking skills, build their repertoire of new recipes and develop a fresh appreciation for food and above all, have a great time cooking.

This course may assist students who wish to continue studying VCE Food Studies, have a desire to develop their food preparation skills, VET Hospitality and those seeking part-time or full-time employment in the hospitality industry.

FOOD AND TECHNOLOGY: THE FIT FOODIE
YEAR 10

This course has been developed for students with a passion for cooking, and who wish to learn more about nutrition and contemporary health issues. Students will participate in weekly practical classes that will enable them to develop their culinary skills and encourage them to make wise food choices. Planning meals, snacks and celebration foods for a range of people, and those with special diets is part of this course. It aims to give students an understanding of nutrition and how to make healthy food choices. This course may assist students who are considering careers in the health industry such as dietetics, nursing and health promotion.

PRODUCT DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY:
TIMBER JOINERY
YEAR 10

This course aims to involve the students in designing, making and evaluating items. At first considerable guidance and instruction will be needed but as the students’ progress the aim is for them to work independently. Timber joints will be incorporated into the design and production of practical projects such as timber serving trays, indoor furniture and ornate boxes.

PRODUCT DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY: MATERIALS
YEAR 10

Technology and Design develops students' knowledge and confidence to analyse critically and respond creatively to the challenges of a highly technological and complex future. They learn to design, produce and evaluate innovative technological designed solutions. Through the practical application of technologies, students develop manual dexterity and coordination through hands-on activities. The subject engages and motivates young people and provides them with learning experiences to develop skills that are transferable to family and home, constructive leisure activities, community contribution and the world of work.

STEM: VEX ROBOTICS COMPETITION TEAMS
YEAR 10

In this course students will learn the fundamentals of robotics including: design, development, analysis of robotic systems.  Students will extend their programming skills in Python and learn VEX as a model of robotic systems.  Problem solving will be a major focus of the course as students apply novel robotic solutions to authentic problems faced by individuals and organisations in today's changing world. Furthermore, students will learn to evaluate they designs to determine how well they meet the original design brief.

STEM: RAPID PROTOTYPING COMPUTERS
YEAR 10

This course will appeal to students who are interested in designing and developing rapid processing computers like the Arduino Uno and Nano, the ESP32, the ESP32CAM and the Raspbery Pi 3B. Student will also have the opportunity to develop their Maker Space Skills using the Anycubi i3Mega, the Anycubic Chiron, the Flashforge Creator 3, the Form 3 Resin Printer and a 150W Laser Cutter. During this course, students will analyse a need, design and develop a digital solution and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the product. Students will become familiar with software development to issue commands to the various computers using the Arduino code and python.
